Local writers 'Inspired by the Methow'

Three Methow Valley writers – Sam Lucy, Abbie Miller and Linda Robertson – will present their work on Saturday, Feb. 11, in an evening of literary arts at Confluence Gallery in Twisp.

A 'Holiday Concert' on Valentine's Day

Pianist Michael Brady is giving a solo concert of music from the romantic era to benefit the Merc Playhouse on what is traditionally thought of as Valentine’s Day.
Brady will play five of Franz Schubert’s lyrical impromptus as well as selections by the Spanish composers Isaac Albéniz, known for his sophistication and virtuosity, and Enrique Granados, admired for his expressive style.

Paint a portrait of your pet
Seattle nature painter Jean Bradbury will teach two animal painting classes at Confluence Gallery in Twisp on Feb. 17-19.
On Feb. 17 Bradbury will offer a three-hour class on how to quickly capture a pet’s expressions, antics, poses and moods. That class will be from 1-4 pm and costs $60.
On Feb. 18 and 19, Bradbury will conduct a two-day oil painting workshop where she’ll teach how to capture the endearing character of pets in oil paints.

Valentine’s Day concert
The Okanogan Valley Orchestra and Chorus will present a Family/Valentine’s Day concert at 3 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the Omak Performing Arts Center.
The concert will feature the Children’s Corner with children from 4 to 94 encouraged to come to the front at the beginning of the concert to ask and answer questions from the orchestra members. Youth are encouraged to join the orchestra on stage.
