Cars, cars everywhereWintry weather this past week has made traction on valley roads something to not take for granted. Above, Mary Anne Quigley of Carlton escaped injury after her car lost traction on a super-slick Twisp-Carlton Road Friday and went over a 30-foot embankment and into the Methow River. After being assessed by Aero Methow Rescue Service medics, she was able to walk up to the road with assistance. Black ice greeted morning commuters Monday, taking out two cars within a mile of each other on State Road 20 on the outskirts of Twisp. Joe Jensen of Winthrop was uninjured after his Volkswagen Beetle slid off the road and flipped, and Thomas Miller of Twisp was reportedly unharmed after he rolled his Ford Bronco about a mile further south. |
